Kinshasa is a durable upholstery fabric made from 100% polyester, designed to combine comfort, strength, and long-lasting performance. It is available in two versions: Kinshasa and Kinshasa Quilted. The standard Kinshasa fabric has a width of 140 cm (±2%) and a weight of 320 g/m² (±5%), while the Kinshasa Quilted version has a width of 135 cm (±2%) and a weight of 520 g/m² (±5%), providing additional thickness and a decorative quilted structure.
According to DIN EN ISO testing standards, Kinshasa fabric offers strong mechanical properties. The tensile strength reaches 772 N in the warp direction and 442 N in the weft direction, ensuring good resistance to stretching during use. The tear growth strength is 51.3 N (warp) and 42 N (weft), supporting durability against tearing.
The fabric also demonstrates excellent seam stability with seam slippage resistance of 1.5 mm in both warp and weft, allowing secure stitching and reliable performance in upholstered furniture.
Kinshasa fabric provides outstanding durability with an abrasion resistance of 80,000 Martindale cycles, making it suitable for heavy-use environments. The Kinshasa Quilted version has 6,000 Martindale cycles measured on the seam, reflecting the testing method specific to quilted constructions.
Surface performance is strong with a pilling resistance rating of 4–5, helping the fabric maintain a clean and smooth appearance over time. The fabric also offers good light fastness rated 4–5, ensuring color stability when exposed to light.
Overall, Kinshasa fabric combines high durability, reliable performance, and modern upholstery aesthetics, making it an excellent choice for residential and contract furniture applications.
